Harry Potter 4K Box Set Comes Packaged Inside Hogwarts Express Train

There’s a new Harry Potter box set available for pre-order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. The first Harry Potter movie premiered to UK audiences (under its original British title, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone) on November 10, 2001, and the following weekend in the US. The resulting eight-film series based on J.K. Rowling’s fantasy novels spawned a multimedia Wizarding World mega-franchise that extends to encompasses television, film, theater, books, video games, theme park rides, and more.

In anticipation of the anniversary, the Wizarding World is releasing its latest box set on Amazon, complete with a number of special features. The Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Anniversary 8-Film Collector’s Edition includes 4K UHD and Blu-ray versions of the entire series, spread across 17 discs. The set is shaped like the Hogwarts Express, with the discs bound up in a train car that carries Harry, Ron, and Hermione off to school. Owners will also find their own Hogwarts Express Train Ticket included in the package. For $139.99, the box set is available for pre-order on Amazon now.

The collector’s edition also offers 32 pages of written behind-the-scenes Harry Potter commentary in a booklet. The set includes Magical Movie Mode on Blu-ray, which promises “a wondrous new way to experience filmmaking secrets, spells, trivia and more!” Magical Movie Mode includes Hogwarts trivia, spell incantations for burgeoning witches and wizards, director’s commentary, and extra information about the enchanted items and animals of the Wizarding World.

Although a complete Harry Potter box set came out in 2017, this may be a worthwhile addition to superfans’ collections due to its new features or anniversary status. 20 years later, many Harry Potter fans now look back on the premiere of The Sorcerer’s Stone as a cherished childhood memory. For a certain cohort of millennials who grew up reading the Harry Potter books, the first movie brought to life an entire world that had previously existed only in their minds. While the series’ unprecedented success can’t solely be credited for the ensuing proliferation of book-to-film adaptations and reboots, this anniversary undoubtedly commemorates an important moment in cinematic history.
