Deltarune Chapter 2 Is Free, Entire Game Will Be 5 Chapters Long

In an unexpected move, Deltarune creator Toby Fox released the second chapter of the game for free on PC. Deltarune is an episodic role-playing game that is set in a parallel universe to Undertale, with many of the same characters existing in both settings, even if they don’t share the same personalities.

The first chapter of Deltarune was shadow-dropped in 2018, with only a few cryptic messages on social media to signal its arrival. Deltarune stars a human named Kris, who lives in a world of monsters. Kris is sent on a trip to the school’s supply closet with the school bully, Susie, and the two fall through a portal into the Dark World. They learn that they are the heroes of legend, who must team up with Rasiel, a resident of the Dark World, on their quest to save the world.

The release date for Deltarune Chapter 2 was revealed during the 6th-anniversary livestream for Undertale. The official website for the game was updated with a timer leading to its launch. Fans noticed that there weren’t any store pages live for the game, which meant they didn’t know how much it would cost. Deltarune Chapter 2 is now live and it’s completely free to download on PC. The official Deltarune website has an update from Fox, revealing that he made the second chapter of the game free, due to the current state of the world and how tough everything has been for everyone.

Fox also revealed that Deltarune will be five chapters long in total, and that the remaining three chapters will be released as a single package in the future. The remaining Deltarune chapters will definitely be paid releases and they will likely cost more to purchase than the full version of Undertale. Fox also revealed that the team that made Deltarune had expanded, and he took time to thank the contributors that helped him finish the game.

Fans have been waiting a long time for Deltarune Chapter 2. It’s strange to think that it has been in development for three years, which is longer than the development cycle of UndertaleDeltarune Chapter 2 has only just been released, so it’s unclear how long its runtime is, especially as Deltarune Chapter 1 only takes a few hours to finish. Fans will have the chance to experience it for themselves without forking out cash, as it’s time to return to the Dark World, and the Annoying Dog has comped everyone’s tickets.
