Saint Seiya TV Anime Teases 35th Anniversary Illustrations
October 11, 2021 marks the 35th anniversary of the initial TV broadcast of Saint Seiya, the anime adaptation based on the explosively popular shonen action manga by Masami Kurumada, and the series is celebrating with a new logo (above) and a key visual (below) teasing the reveal of 12 illustrations of the Gold Saints as drawn by Machi Himeno, the original character designer for the series.
The Gold Saint illustrations will be released sequentially in various outlets as part of the 35th anniversary celebrations. The original Saint Seiya manga was serialized from 1986 – 1990 by Shueisha in their Weekly Shōnen Jump manga magazine, and an English language version is also available from Viz Media.

The Saint Seiya TV is directed by Kozo Morishita and Kazuhito Kikuchi and feautures animation production by Toei Animation. It originally broadcast from 1986 – 1989 on TV Asahi, and it is also currently availabe via streaming on Netflix. Netflix describes the story of Saint Seiya as follows:
A band of young warriors in magical armor vow to defend the reincarnation of Greek goddess Athena against evil forces and to return her to the throne.
